Vasilis Tsitsanis

Vasilis Tsitsanis is credited by many as being the one who took the old “Rebetiko” music and turn them into what is known today as “Laika” music.
Laika can be thought of as a rounded more harmonious evolution of the Rebetiko. Essentially is the addition of western instruments like guitar and accordion to the traditional eastern instruments such as the Bouzuki and Baglama.
Composer, singer and Bouzuki player Tsitsanis worked with artists such as Satioria Bellou, Marika Ninou,Stellios Kazantzidis, Grigoris Bithikotsis.
He composed his first song before the second world war and remain active until his death at the age of 69.
During his long creer Tsitasanis composed more than 500 songs, many of them are being played to this date
